In two cell-based in-vitro assays (ERa dimerization and transcriptional activation), ethylparaben induced estrogen receptor-alpha dimerization and showed estrogenic transcriptional activity, testing positive in both tests (along with propyl-, butyl-, isopropyl- and isobutylparaben), supporting weak estrogen-mimicking (endocrine) activity for ethylparaben.
