Methyl-, propyl- and butylparaben were tested on hairless mouse skin and human cadaver epidermis using Franz cells; permeation was dose-dependent, mouse skin showed higher flux than human epidermis, and methylparaben had a higher permeability coefficient than propylparaben or butylparaben.
