The CIR Expert Panel's dedicated assessment concluded isopropyl isostearate, an emollient/skin-conditioning ester of isopropyl alcohol and isostearic acid, is safe as used in cosmetics based on data on it and chemically similar isopropyl esters; comedogenicity data were among the evidence reviewed.
